Old Bedford and Counter Drain

The Society shares this fishery that stretches from Earith to Sutton Gault with another local Club. The Old Bedford River is the major drainage channel in the Ouse washes system and is best fished during the summer months. It holds some good stocks of Roach, Bream, Perch & Pike. There have also been reports of a few very large Carp.

Parrallel to the Old Bedford is the Counter Drain. The Society has the fishing rights from Black Sluice at Earith to beyond the A142 at Mepal. The Counter Drain is quite small but contains some good Tench plus plenty of other species. Best fished during the winter after the summer weed has been cut.
